Holidays

I will be spending almost 25 (22days over !) days away from office while taking only 11 days off. Of this I was back home only for 4 days , rest of the holidays was spend in a different way from all my previous vacations. The first 8 days went in some reading and taking an exam. Then the 5 days in India and now back . Lazing around - vehicle registration and of course outlook web access keeps you in touch with the office.

It has been relaxing and makes one think about working for oneself. Need to work on this project. Few part-time irons in the fire is an interesting proposition. Had a nice experience speaking at a Retail seminar on Supply chain and systems. It got me thinking about what is achieved from such seminars. Putting myself in the position of an attendee , I see it as a half-day experience ending with a ***** lunch, and maybe meet some old friends. From a speaker's perspective , one's attention is not there 100% as you tend to rehearse and change your speech.

India is changing. But then as a friend was saying it is not all rosy as made out in the press. The traffic in Bangalore is attrocious. The attrition rate in the BPOs is killing the business. The protests against the retail ventures are increasing. The large population once the bane of the nation now a boon for the market is again undoing a lot of the progress. The volatile stock market is a sine-curve and with de-mat accounts every home pc owner attempts to be a Harshad Mehta. Is India changing?
